13-14 June 2014
Since antiquity, the census has entailed the existence of citizens and inclusion on the roll of a political, military or fiscal order; it has also taken on a redemptive meaning. This seminar aimed to explore the practice of census taking, to consider its theological and juridical conceptualization and to cast light on the current understandings of the profession. This analysis helps to explain the significance that has been accorded – on both the ethical and the politico-social plane – to professional occupation since the modern age, and thus contributes to the completion of Weber’s interpretation of the Beruf by tracing another path towards modernity and its capitalist spirit.
Speakers: Tiziana Faitini, Michele Nicoletti, Gian Luigi Prato, Michel Humm, Debora Spini, Francesco Ghia, Elena Alessiato, Andrea Aguti, Carlo Fantappiè, Andrea Colli, Massimo Giuliani
